Just Because

Just because we can keep a loved one alive, doesn't mean you should. Just because we can keep you alive doesn't mean we should.

Damn straight. I learned a lot about the issue when I worked in medical ethics. I hadn't had much reason to think about it much before. Now I know that much of what we do as families, because we cannot let go, is actually cruelty rather than kindness. Just because the medical technology exists does not mean it should always be used.
