After a mere three weeks of botched attempts to provide us with a phone line, AT&T has finally connected us to the outside world and left us with the sour taste of poor customer service. I even had one conversation with one of AT&T’s representatives where he suggested that I just go with another provider because AT&T couldn’t cut the mustard. I would have if they hadn’t promised us a phone number that was then plastered on my resumes and scattered to the wind. I needed that phone number so I could get myself a job.
However, along those lines, I accepted a position today as the Gallery Coordinator for the Center for Book and Paper Arts at Columbia College. I basically take down and set up shows as well as work on the website and create promotional materials. The Center for Book and Paper Arts is one of the best in the country when it comes to paper making, book making, and typesetting. I’m really excited to have a job in my field and at a school where I can take advantage of the facilities that only higher education can provide.
And since I’m in such a good mood, here is an added bonus:
CHREEEES! Three cheers and three kisses (Mwa, Mwa, Mwa). More about Columbia College please. Is it really the nation’s premier art’s college? or is it like a midwest Stevens Heneger? I am just such an idiot when it comes to the art world. After all, I did hang one of your paintings sideways in our last house. But rest assured with the vaulted ceilings (gag) in our current rental, it will be vertical from now on!
Isabel is into creating her own books these days, some of which I am sure will one day be displayed in the Center for Book and Paper Arts. On Sunday, she created her own hymn book with a single line repeated over and over and over: all ya you yu. She then proceeded to sing from her hymn book all the way home from church, all the way through Sunday dinner, and well into Monday. So from all of us here at the new Andrus ant-filled, oh-so-90s-vaulted-ceiling-and-plant-niche-filled homestead, we sing a congratulatory hymn of praise for your beautiful apartment, even more beautiful wife, and enviable job: all ya you yu, all ya you yu, all ya you yu, all ya you yu, all ya you yu … .

I don’t know why, but anytime I try to post anything anywhere, my name won’t show up. I’m beginning to feel like Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense.
Sorry about the name problem, Ames. I’m not sure exactly why it won’t do that for you, other than the fact that you’re dead.
As for Columbia, it’s a decent arts college depending on your program. The book and paper arts program is really strong, and I hear that the photo department is pretty good as well. Stephens Heneger it ain’t. But as far as names go, it’s no Yale, Chicago Art Institute, or UCLA. But who wants to go to those schools anyway?
Explosive applause and revelry from the masses for the great job in the arts Chris landed! Does the gallery show strictly paper and book arts works? How big is the college? Now I want to take a trip up to Chicago and come visit you and see everything there. Your apt looks pretty cool. Hip hip hooray!
The previous post was from ai. i’m not alive either…
Your apartment looks great!
Congrats on the job.
Snow in chicago rarely piles up higher than the second floor.
