That’s Field Marshal Lord Asmundarson To You
May 15, 2008
I was purchasing a few summer skirts for the girls from Boden last night and when I went to enter my name and address information I was impressed by the number of options available in the “Title” drop-down menu.

wow. Now I just wanna buy something. I’d like to be a “Baroness” or even better a “Countess” (TWOOOO tee-shirts in green, THREEEE pairs of summer shorts! ah-ah-ah-), but those who know me would go for the easy joke and make me a “rear admiral”.

Are you quite certain they are not utilizing the “Peculiar Aristocratic Title” Generator?
Curiously,
The Most Verbose Kate

Yes! The Boden titles drop-down menu! Thank you for reminding me! When I first saw this, I of course had to order Boden catalogs in my sisters’ names — with fancy shmancy titles. They were appropriately delighted and befuddled. Now, wouldn’t my younger brother enjoy getting something in the mail from a commercial entity addressed to “Wing Commander Robert Hall?” Heh, heh…
Now I feel guilty. Because of the forests. And because I’ve never actually bought anything from the catalogs, only drooled on their pages.

I’ve always wanted to be a Viscount. What is a Viscount?
Grettir
Viscount: (adj.) Having a thick, sticky consistency between solid and liquid; gelatinous, treacly.
No, wait a minute…that’s viscous.

just found your site - hilarious! And I had never heard of Boden before but I will be ordering catalogs for my family and friends so they can have ridiculous names as well. Thanks for the idea, Mary. I too will mourn the forest - but only until my catatolg arrives and I become a Marchioness. I don’t think the pompously titled grieve too much over the environment.
ps: I had to preview this 4 times - my typing is atrocious!

OK, everybody, all together now:
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday Dear Grehhhhhhhttir,
Happy Birthday to you!
A little late in the day, I know.
(Why doesn’t your spell checker like “Grehhhhhhhttir”?)
Grettir
Thank you, Mary, but I’m at the age where a courteous person would let the occasion pass without comment.
And everyone know Grehhhhhhhhttir has eight “H”s!

Well now, I’ll have to mark my calender for next year. I’ll purposefully miss it then. You’ll then know I’m silently wishing great things come you way on June 7th just because it’s almost summer!
