Be Honest With Yourself
June 15, 2006
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints produced a series of postcards in the mid-to-late 50s entitled Be Honest With Yourself. Aimed at the high school and college-aged crowd, they were the original MormonAds. And even though some of them are over 50 years old, their timely and timeless messages are as relevant today as they were when the halls of BYU were redolent of Aqua Velva and Aqua Net.

Oh my gosh! I’ve been trying to find these for years. I saw a bunch in libraries on my mission and didn’t steal them because I was on my mission and I’ve regretted it ever since. How do you find them?

So Lou, are you saying that when they tell you in Sunday School that you’ll “never regret Choosing the Right,” they’re lying?
I wish you’d told me sooner. I’ve wasted so much time…

Lou, my mother just pulled them out of a box the other day when she was looking through some old keepsakes (in preparation for Mustang Days). She’d picked them up at MIA (Mutual Improvement Association) when she was a teenager.

I’m looking for the ‘going steady too early?’ Be Honest wit Yourself poster and the story that goes with it, can anybody help me find it?
Thank you.

Sorry, Kim, that one was not in my mother’s collection…

Kim contacted you about the “going steady” card and just informed me that she found it…I would be happy to share that with you and would LOVE to get copies of the ones you have. What is the process here? We get such a KICK out of the going steady one and have used it in many lessons! thanks..

I would love to have a copy of “Going Steady,” and I’ll be posting the rest of the cards in my collection over the course of the next few months.
