Zoe: Hey, Dad, here’s a picture I drew for you in Sunday School.
Me: Zoe, I can’t help but notice that everyone in the picture is smiling except for this one little boy. Why is he frowning?
Zoe: He’s sad because Jesus doesn’t love him.
Me: But…um…Zoe…Jesus loves everyone.
She just looked at me and shrugged her shoulders like there was nothing she could do about it. Jesus didn’t love him and that was that…

Oh, it’s not that said. Quite honestly, I think she decided to put a frown on someone just to be different and then formulated her Zoe-logical explanation after the fact.
And I’m happy to say that I don’t think it’s ever occurred to Zoe, or Emma either, for that matter, that there might be someone in the universe who wouldn’t love her.
