You’ve got to love a gal who peppers her speech with “Wooooeeee,” “Terrifo,” and “Good gravy!”

Forgive me—I don’t mean to sound uncharitable—but whoever illustrated this book did Jane a whopping big favor. He/she has managed to make Jane appear much less lumpy and awkward and much more zippy and stylish in the book than she appears in those publicity stills. Perhaps they were paid hush money by the studios to go heavy on the fantasy and light on the reality. If I thought he/she was still alive I’d hire ‘em to paint MY portrait.
