A Reprieve For RFTP
May 21, 2002
Huzzah! The CARP recommendations have been rejected by the Librarian of Congress. (Am I the only one who, when hearing the title “Librarian of Congress,” pictures some elderly, matronly woman shushing rowdy Senators for speaking too loudly in the non-fiction section?)
It’s probably only a temporary stay of execution, but it looks like we’ll be able to broadcast for at least a few more months. <knock on silicon>

Outstanding! Unbelievable! I have a new hero! Though I do agree with Grettir about the librarian .I can picture a granny smacking the Committee on the wrists with a wood ruler - “Now don’t be greedy boys!”
Thor God of Thunder
well, that is of course good. Can you play more britney spears? oh, and add a bit of Viking metal please.
Grettir
Even given my Icelandic leanings, I’m afraid that a hearty dose of Scandanavian black metal would send most RFTP listeners into catatonic neurological overload. (Oddly enough, Ms. Spears has the same effect.)
I would recommend listening to “Unholy Black Metal Radio” but it appears to have gone dark.
Rhonda
yippee!

Yay! Go Librarian of Congress! I am thrilled to hear that RFTP will remain on the air for the time being, and I will be able to continue getting my dose of petite pineapple goodness.
cheers,

Uhhhh…..actually, we’ve ever had a WOMAN Librarian of Congress. It appears to be one of those “guy” things…
Long live RFTP!

I posted something on my ‘blog in response to a show on my local NPR affiliate about this, as well as an email to the show.
Maybe I’m missing something, but I think the artists are making enemies of their allies with this stuff.
